I love when things turn out to be fabulous.
It wasn’t all that long ago that I’d given up on the idea of running the Rainier To Ruston relay because I couldn’t find a team and well, I’m not crazy enough to run it as an ultramarthon or anything. Thanks to Ezra, I managed to find myself on a team.
Although I didn’t know anybody but him, I had an absolute blast. Isn’t it funny how awesome people can be sometimes? After a few bonding beers at the Powerhouse in Puyallup we wound up camping at my aunt and uncle’s house near the race start.
The course runs from the edge of Mt. Rainier National Park down to Ruston Way in Tacoma. It’s 50 miles but mostly downhill. The course was split into twelve legs so each of us got to run two legs. The race wasn’t particularly eventful but it was fun. I enjoyed being a part of a team again so much.
Not only did I get to run, meet some fabulous people, and laugh A LOT but I also got to play with my nephew Andrew a little bit too on Saturday evening and Sunday. I even snuck in some wine tasting at Cave B Estate Winery on the way across Washington!
